Remarks for Ambassador Glazer
MEDRETE in San Juan Opico
It is always a pleasure to visit Medical Readiness Training Exercises or MEDRETEs, such as the one today here at Centro Escolar Los Chorros.
I would like to thank the Salvadoran military leadership for demonstrating their commitment to the community and inviting our U.S. military medical personnel to participate in their efforts here today. The Salvadoran Armed Forces are strong partners with whom we have conducted similar activities for many years and will continue to do so.
MEDRETES provide an opportunity for Salvadoran and U.S. military to work together to provide medical assistance to communities throughout the country. So far this year almost 32,000 Salvadorans in the departments of Sonsonate, Chalatenango, Santa Ana, Cabañas and Usulután have benefited from these exercises.
We will continue to work together to provide assistance to the rural communities of El Salvador through Medical Readiness training and other joint efforts.
Muchas Gracias
