Residence Visas changes format
The American Embassy announces that effective on Monday,
March 29, residence, or immigrant, visas will be issued under
a new format.
Residence visa documents will now look similar to non-immigrant
visas (tourism, business, students) that are currently in
use. The main differences will be a specification that it
is an immigrant (residence) visa and it will include additional
personal data to the ones used in the prior form.
Applicants for immigrant visas will also be required to
provide biometrical documentation starting on March 29, including
an additional facial photo and fingerprints.
All immigrant-visa appointments will be scheduled in the
afternoon once an applicant has provided the Consulate with
all of the required documentation via AEROFLASH. The fee
is $335.00
The Consular Section of the American Embassy wishes to emphasize
that immigrant visas issued in the prior format will still
be valid until their expiration date.
For more details on immigrant visa procedures, applicants
may call the Information Center for Visas by buying a Visas-USA
card in any Telefonica office.
