President
Bush wins re-election
November 3, 2004
On November 3, George W. Bush formally declared victory
in the US presidential election after his Democratic challenger,
John Kerry, conceded defeat at a large gathering of his supporters
in Boston.
With final results from Ohio giving him all of the electoral
votes of that State, President Bush received a total of
274 Electoral College votes, four more than needed for
victory.
Mr Kerry got 252 votes.
Final results are still pending from New Mexico and Iowa,
but they will not affect the outcome.
