U.S. Ambassador Charles L. Glazer delivered to the Ministry of Public Health and Social Assistance a donation of medical supplies and computer equipment valued at $542,000.00.
The donation was received by the Salvadoran Minister of Health Jose Guillermo Maza. This donation will help improve the quality of health care services to women and children in the 69 municipalities, supported by the U.S. Agency for International Development and the Ministry's Community Health Program.
These initiatives help to develop and implement integrated mother/child and adolescent services, including reproductive health and family planning, safe birthing, nutrition (including breastfeeding promotion), prevention of diarrheas and respiratory infections in children, and basic education about hygiene and the importance of clean water in the household.
In addition, the US Government has paid for equipment and remodeling of the offices of the public health facilitators in the SIBASI (Basic System of Integral Heath) of San Vicente, Cojutepeque, la Libertad, Chalatenango, San Miguel and Usulután.
