On Tuesday, August 14, United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Director Deborah Kennedy-Iraheta received a complimentary plaque to recognize USAID’s support for creating El Salvador’s Consumer Protection Policy.
Salvadoran President Elías Antonio Saca and Consumer Protection President Evelyn Jacir de Lovo presented the plaque to Mrs. Kennedy-Iraheta during a public event unveiling the new Policy for Consumer Protection.
The new Policy sets out the actions the Government will take to guarantee that consumer rights are respected and that the market works properly. The policy comes as a result of a dynamic debate and consensus process among the country’s economic sectors and led by the Consumer Protection Authority.
USAID has provided sustained support for the establishment of the Consumer Protection Office through technical assistance, training, and equipment for the past three years.
