U.S. Embassy Cosponsors Biofuels Forum

On September 25, the U.S. Embassy and the Embassy of Brazil cosponsored a Biofuels Forum at FEPADE to discuss the promotion of biofuels with a diverse group of Salvadoran stakeholders. The forum brought together representatives from political parties, sugar growers, sugar mills, fuel distributors, environmental groups, the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Agriculture.
After opening remarks by Michael Butler, Deputy Chief of Mission at the U.S. Embassy and the Brazilian Ambassador to El Salvador, Eduardo Prisco, visiting speakers delivered presentations on biofuels opportunities and benefits; the U.S.-Brazil biofuels partnership; technical standards and ongoing biofuels feasibility studies in El Salvador.
