US Navy Admiral Stavridis Thanks Salvadoran Soldiers

In a short visit to El Salvador, Commander of the U.S. Southern Command Admiral James Stavridis presented Salvadoran officials with a plaque to honor the Salvadoran soldiers who have helped in the reconstruction of Iraq.
Joining the Admiral in the ceremony were the Salvadoran Minister of Defense, Otto Romero Orellana, the Salvadoran Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the Armed Forces, Major General Jorge Molina, Salvadoran deputy Renato Perez, and US Ambassador Charles Glazer. Admiral Stavridis praised the Salvadoran soldiers' efforts to bring a stable democracy to Iraq and thanked El Salvador for "standing shoulder-to-shoulder" with the US in the War on Terror.
After the ceremony, Admiral Stavridis, Ambassador Glazer and Minister Romero held a press conference at which Stavridis reiterated the US's appreciation for the Salvadorans' service. Admiral Stavridis later met with Salvadoran President Elias Antonio Saca to thank him personally for El Salvador's support.
