Ambassador Charles L. Glazer made his radio show debut April 23 on Radio 102.9’s morning talk show “A Primera Hora” (“At the First Hour”). The program, hosted by the very popular Prudencio “Pencho” Duque and Aida Farrar, has become the morning show standard on the Salvadoran airwaves by mixing serious talk with light humor peppered with political and social reality.
Ambassador Glazer took advantage of the occasion to reiterate his top priority as the head of the U.S. diplomatic mission: working closely with the Salvadoran government to confront the country’s serious public security problem. He also underlined the excellent bilateral relations between El Salvador and the United States, and expressed confidence that these would continue after the 2009 elections with a new Salvadoran government that shares the US’s basic values: Strengthening democracy, promoting a market economy, advocating for free trade and creating better opportunities for all members of society.
The interview triggered further media coverage of the Ambassador’s remarks, which were picked up in the local papers and TV news.
