US Secretary of Health inaugurates conference in El Salvador

U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Michael Leavitt is visiting El Salvador this week to strengthen efforts to improve the safety of products and to advance joint programs to improve health care in the region.
On June 24, the Secretary met with President Elias Antonio Saca and inaugurated a day-long product safety forum with government officials and business leaders from the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica and Panama.
His visit to El Salvador is part of a tour throughout the region which includes Mexico, Nicaragua, and Panama.
