Welcome to the U.S. Embassy's El Salvador website. As the American Ambassador to the Republic of El Salvador, I feel privileged and humbled to represent the United States at a time when our relationship is especially close, cooperative, and confident.

Privileged, because my family and I have an opportunity to learn more about El Salvador and its people. Humble, because there is much to learn and much to do, particularly at a time of challenge such as the present.

The cornerstone of our relationship is the warm friendship and mutual respect that Salvadorans and Americans have for each other. Today, over 2 million Salvadorans are working or studying in the United States, while the 12,000 Americans here in El Salvador contribute in any number of ways to its rich social and cultural life.

Whether one looks at economic policy and trade, educational exchanges, or working together against terrorism, the Salvadoran-American connection is strong and mutually beneficial.
